Photo of the Day - 22.Apr.12
In our travels around the world, we here at the What have been lucky enough to capture a few snazzy moments, people, and other random things with our cameras. We figured we should start sharing them with you. Enjoy!
Date: 6.Aug.08
Location: Center City Philadelphia
Story: I have always loved the way the city looks on a rainy day. On this particular day almost four years ago, I was taking the 33 bus from 7th and Market toward the Franklin Institute. The rainwater was cascading down the bus window and I thought it looked pretty cool. I waited until we had pulled up near one of the coolest buildings in Philadelphia, the PSFS building, and snapped this shot. After today's bus ride in the rain that included a brief stop to push a stalled van to the side of the road, I remembered this photograph of another rainy day in Philadelphia.

Date: March 2007
Location: Rio Piedras, PR
Story: I have friends all over the world, which is pretty handy for vacationing. For example, I spent Spring Break of 2007 in Puerto Rico where a friend of mine was living at the time and did not have to bother with hotels. This photo was taken in a neighborhood bar near the University of Puerto Rico where she was tending bar. It is one of many photos I have taken of colorful lights at a low shutter speed.

Date: April 2005
Location: Miami Beach, FL
Story: For about a year of my life, I worked at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, FL. During my second stint with the Mouse, I spent a fair amount of my evenings partying with a core group of friends. One night, in a spot of brilliance only possible when inebriated, we decided to skip work the following day and drive to Miami. What ended up happening the following day has become the one story that is so outrageous and so incredible that I will tell for the rest of my life (with or without certain details, depending on the audience). This photo was taken early in the adventure, just four friends enjoying the fun and the sun that one finds at Miami Beach. The point of posting this photo is this: You are approaching the age where you can't really get away with wild and crazy exploits. If you don't have your "Miami" yet, go find it. You will be glad that you did.

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Story: This photograph was taken during one of my several Project 365 attempts. Project 365 is a photo project that requires taking one photo each day for an entire year. I will likely make a fourth attempt at said project beginning next month. At any rate, this photo was snapped at Swift Half Pub at the Piazza, now known as Gunner's Run. I liked how they had their bar fruit stowed, hence the photo.

Date: 10.Mar.08
Location: Chattanooga, TN
Story: I was visiting a friend in Tennessee over Spring Break in 2008. After wandering around the North Shore, we headed through Coolidge Park to the foot of the Walnut Street Bridge where I noticed this drawing on the sidewalk. I couldn't resist snapping a shot of such wonderful street art.
